Product Details

Original Items: Only One Set Available. These are rare excellent condition size small Early WW2 "Arctic Circle" Wolf Fur Mittens. Issued to Army Air Force pilots and crew members for extreme cold condition.

During WWII soldiers in the US Army Air Corps flew over the Arctic Circle and where exposed to Beverly cold temperatures. Many were issued a pair of these wolf fur mittens, however the material was expensive and the Army continued to experiment with other materials, ending the production of these mittens in 1942.

These mittens feature green leather palms, a covering of wolf fur, and are lined with an olive green wool with cuffs trimmed in brown leather. This pair is in excellent condition and bears the original inspection stamp on the thumbs noting this pair was issued from the Seattle Quartermaster Depot.

This pair of gloves is in excellent condition, and look to either have never been used, or very rarely. The leather is soft and pliable and the fur is clean, and shows no hair loss. Original interior tag marks these as size Small. The original lanyard that connected the two has been cut away. Mittens approximately measure in inches: 15" from cuff to fingertip 10" wide at cuff 5" wide at fingers.

Offered in excellent condition, these are extremely difficult to find on the collector's market today.
